About the Park
The Jeffersontown Veterans Memorial Park was the first park in Kentucky to be dedicated solely to veterans. It is located on 25 beautiful acres and offers open green spaces that are ideal for recreational activities.
Veterans Memorial Plaza and Freedom Wall
Jeffersontown’s 30,000-square-foot Veterans Memorial Plaza and Freedom Wall monument were unveiled on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2018. The 60-foot-long Freedom Wall monument is composed of 15 laser-etched, glass panels that salute the five U.S. military branches and members of the military. Silhouettes of service people, historical quotes, and letters to and from combat service members appear on the wall. Five American flags are stationed behind the branch panels.
Walk of Veterans
The walk of veterans consists of approximately 6,000 brick pavers and there are currently 3,000 inscribed pavers on the walk. The pavers are available for inscription to honor individual veterans and may be purchased as a permanent remembrance or tribute to someone who served or is currently serving in the armed forces. Ceremonies are held on or around Veterans Day and Memorial Day to dedicate new bricks. Bricks cost $145.00. The application for a brick may be picked up at Jeffersontown City Hall or online. Please call (502) 548-3143 for more information regarding pavers ONLY.
The walk of veterans is flanked by a huey helicopter, an M-60A tank, navel guns, and a 60-foot bronze flagpole.
