[ARCHIVED] Watterson Trail Streetscape Continues

Watterson Trl. SS

Here's what to expect:

  • New curbs and gutters
  • Expanded sidewalks to meet ADA standards and improved access to downtown businesses.
  • New street lighting that will improve the visibility and safety of both vehicles and pedestrians along Watterson Trail and enhance the overall aesthetics of the downtown.
  • New tree canopies that will greatly improve the experience along this corridor.  The existing trees were diseased and damaged causing problems with existing sidewalks.  The new trees will compliment the downtown for years to come.
  • A new city hall plaza that will be used for public events and Gaslight Festival activities.

The city asks for your patience as the project begins and when necessary, seek alternative traffic routes during peak times in order to reduce your travel times.  The anticipated schedule is to complete the north side of Watterson Trail First and then switch to the south side of Watterson Trail. During these phases the two lanes of traffic will be reduced to one lane in that particular direction. If you have any questions, please call city hall at 502-267-8333.

Thank you and we are excited for what the new construction will bring our Historic Gaslight Square District in the years to come.
