The City of Jeffersontown has a mayor and city council form of government.
The mayor holds a four year term and can only hold the position for three consecutive terms.
Responsibilities
The mayor serves as the chief executive officer of the administrative branch of city government and holds the following responsibilities:
Enforcing all laws and ordinances
Exercising administrative supervision and control over all departments
Preparing and submitting annual budgets to the
City Council
Keeping the Council fully advised of the financial conditions and needs of the city
Recommending actions to the Council
Appoints members to the following boards:
Civic Service Commission
Code Enforcement Board
Ethics Commission
Planning and Zoning
Hiring and terminating all employees of the city with the exception of the City Clerk and
Chief of Police
Boards & Commissions
Jeffersontown Board of Adjustments (JBOA)
Civil Service
Code Enforcement
Ethics
