The Jeffersontown Revenue Department licenses all businesses that are located in and/or are doing business for profit or gain in Jeffersontown, Kentucky. Taxes are deposited into the city's general fund and are used to defray the expenses of city government.
Business License Fee
Effective July 1, 2007, new business licenses
and annual renewals are $75.00.
Jeffersontown Occupational Tax
Occupational Withholding Tax Rate
1% tax on gross wages, to be remitted quarterly
(No exemptions, no minimum or maximum)
Jeffersontown's occupational tax is to be withheld by the employer based on an employee's gross wage. The tax withholding is to be remitted to the Revenue Dept. on a quarterly basis each April 30th, July 31st, October 31st and January 31st. Tax forms are mailed to businesses approximately 30 days before their due date.

$0.1478 per $100.00 of total
assessment (ie. $100,000 tax assessment = $147.80 tax bill)
The 2011 homestead exemption is a
$34,000 deduction off assessed value.
The 2011 disability exemption is a $34,000
deduction off assessed value.
Tax bills are mailed the first week of October. Jeffersontown offers a 2% discount if tax bill is paid
by October 31st. The face amount is due by December 31st. Tax bills are considered delinquent as of January 1st at which time the homeowner is assessed a one time
6% penalty and interest begins to accrue at the rate of 6% per annum.

Tax Exemptions
Non-profit companies, banks, governmental agencies and ABC licensed businesses are exempt from the business license fee, however are required to register and withholding occupational tax. Contact the Business License Inspector with any questions.
