Halloween Candy Safety
General Information
With a little forethought and planning, you can keep your children safe on the spookiest night of the year! Before the trick-or-treating begins, parents should:
  • Make sure children know to only accept unwrapped or unopened candy and not to open any candy until they return home.
  • Avoid giving treats that are choking hazards such as gum, peanuts, hard candies or small toys.
  • If you should find an object in the candy or find something unusual about it, contact the police department and the Regional Poison Control Center (800) 222-1222.
  • Remember: When in doubt, throw it out!
