Previous Experience
Sergeant Meredith started his career with the former Jefferson County Police Department as a telecommunications operator in 1997 and was promoted to police recruit. He attended the DOCJT Basic Training Class 272L graduating in April 1999 where he received the Jefferson County Police Firearms Proficiency Award. Sergeant Meredith had a wide variety of assignments during his career with the JCP / LMPD, including: Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Police Training Officer, Crisis Intervention Team Officer, Narcotics Detective, Mobile Field Force Officer, SWAT Officer / Sniper and Charlie District / ATF Task Force Detective.

Sergeant Lee Meredith joined the Jeffersontown Police Department in March 2008. Meredith has been assigned to the 1st and 2nd Platoons where he was a Bike Officer, Firearms Instructor, Tactical Instructor, CIT Officer and Field Training Officer. Sergeant Meredith was promoted in 2012 and has served as a Patrol Sergeant on 2nd platoon and is now the police departments Training Sergeant. Sergeant Meredith is the police departments Primary Firearms Instructor and has certifications including: DOCJT firearms instructor, NRA Tactical Instructor, Glock Instructor, Safariland Chemical/Less-Lethal Weapons Systems Instructor, Taser Instructor, IES Weapons Simulator Instructor, Institute For The Prevention Of In-custody Death Instructor and is a Commonwealth Of Kentucky CCDW instructor and instructor trainer. Sergeant Meredith also has armorer certifications from Glock, Remington, Ruger and Colt. Serg+eant Meredith has the additional duties of serving on the department’s following committees: uniform, gym, standard operating procedures (SOP), use of force, training, accident review, defense reutilization & marketing office (DRMO), and master police officer (MPO).

Sergeant Meredith graduated from Louisville Male High School and attended the University of Louisville. Sergeant Meredith is a graduate of the DOCJT’s Academy of Police Supervision and has received both Intermediate and Advanced certifications from the DOCJT Career Development Program.
