Title: Councilmember
20180907 Mark Blum

Biography
Since 2011, Mark has spent his time on the City Council working towards government transparency, cutting wasteful spending, encouraging economic development, & streamlining needed infrastructure projects.

As he finishes his fourth term as a Council Member, the City of Jeffersontown has made major strides in all of these areas. The council meetings are live-streamed, recorded and stored for public viewing. The city has passed fiscally responsible balanced budgets that focus on having a strong police department & efficient public works, all without raising taxes. The city’s infrastructure has improved with additional parking options along Watterson Trail, neighborhood sidewalks, and renovations to Veterans Memorial Park. As chairman of the Economic Development Committee since 2011, Mark strives to create a business-friendly environment through the creation of the J.O.B.S. program, encouraging common sense re-zoning, and continuing our partnership with the Chamber Jeffersontown. All of these efforts have played a role to help stimulate the growth you see today.

Mark enjoys cooking daily for his family, which includes his wife, Kristen, their daughter, Audrey, and their pug Lucy. Mark and Kristen are expecting their second child in the first week of January.
