Building Department

Responsibilities


The City of Jeffersontown Building Department is responsible for review, inspection, and approval for all construction projects within the City of Jeffersontown using the Kentucky Building Code or the Kentucky Residential Code in conjunction with all referenced codes and standards. Permits


The thresholds for when a permit is required are addressed in the Permits, Applications and Fees.

All plumbing and elevator permits as well as institutional building permits, facilities required to be licensed by the state (day care, hospitals, nursing homes, etc.), and industrialized buildings are to be inspected and approved by the State of Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings, and Construction.
