Previous Experience


Major Schmidt began his career in law enforcement with the Bowling Green City Police Department in February of 1988. Major Schmidt served in the Patrol Division until he laterally transferred to the Jefferson County Police Department in October of 1990. While Major Schmidt with was with the Jefferson County Police Department he served as a patrol officer, detective, SWAT member, Sergeant over a Patrol and Flex Unit and finally as a Sergeant in the Criminal Investigations until the merger with the Louisville Police Department in 2002. As a result of the merger Major Schmidt was then moved as a Sergeant to the Robbery Unit until his retirement in January of 2008. Major Schmidt graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelors Degree in Police Administration.
