The City of Jeffersontown reviews requests for changes in the zoning, uses of buildings, and development plans for properties within the city limits of Jeffersontown. The Land Development Code, including Chapter 11, Part 6 “Development Plans”, details the procedure for these changes. The size and scope of the project will determine if the City of Jeffersontown will review the change alone or in conjunction with Metro Louisville Division of Planning and Design.
In either situation an application and the necessary documentation as listed on the application form, must be submitted to the City of Jeffersontown's Department of Permitting and Code Enforcement. After receiving your application, the information will be reviewed by the department and representatives from the City of Jeffersontown’s Public Works Department to assure compliance with the Land Development Code and any drainage, street encroachment, etc. After that investigation, which generally takes less than a week, the application is forwarded for action by the Jeffersontown City Council at the earliest possible meeting date. Most applications require only a meeting date for action; however, in cases such as zoning changes, an ordinance is necessary. Kentucky Statues require two readings, at separate meetings, for the passage of an ordinance.
The regularly scheduled meeting dates are the first and third Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm. All meetings are held in the Council Chamber of the Jeffersontown City Hall located at:
